Road rims are not always good track rims. Road rims are made to work in crosswinds or yaw angle around 9 degrees this has led to new designs like that found in the Zipp Firecrest or HED stingers, Equinox Rt they have more of a bulge forward design and are made to work best with 23-25mm tyres. Track requires different designs, the shape need to be optimised at 0-3 degrees ,due to the speed and be designed with tyres that are 19 - 22mm in mind. A 27mm wide rim will have 30% more frontal area without any gain.
To address this issues we build these Italian made Gipiemme 60mm deep rims with our BBK hubs and Sapim CX-Ray spokes. Laced Radially to make them as aero as possible. They come standard with Japanese bearings but we can upgrade them to Ceramic if required.
